Am I the only one who thought Joe Biden was Twittering during last night's Congress address? He looked bored and distracted. He was either Twittering or doing something else with his lap-parts and frankly I'd rather think that he was Twittering.
Six weeks ago I wouldn’t have known who Jamie Bamber was. Yes I was a Battlestar Galactic virgin until my roommate turned me on to the show. I then spent countless hours over the past 35 days or so watching all the episodes up to the present. That’s a lot of hours. I’m really amazed at the sexiness of the show and the political intrigue is incredible and so relevant to our times… anyway, today Andy Towle ran Jamie “Apollo” Bamber’s PETA ad and I just had to nick it and include it here because although I sometimes feel a little unconvinced of some of his acting choices, he is by far the most attractive man on television and his body is tops. (And being an Ugly Betty fan, I’ve created some porn in my head where ‘twins separated at birth” Bambr and Eric Mabius have great fucked up sex).
Speaking of fucked up sex, the Black Party reared it’s head in my direction the other day. I was having drinx at Barrage with a friend from Uptown Express (who are not only the beneficiaries of but performing at my big birthday Bingo on March 4th) and on our way to the train, he popped into Wear Me Out (a name that has always held for me several different meanings) to get his tick for the March 21st extravaganza that this year features snakes on a butt (better there, perhaps than on a plane).
But you don’t have to schlep to a (gasp) retail outlet, no, you can go to the Saint at Large website www.saintatlarge.com to buy them directly where you can also check out the DJs playing throughout the multi hour/two day event. They are now $95 but will raise to $110 on March 1st so, really, you already know you’re going to go, so just buy the ticket now and save some cash for whatever it is that you’ll be wearing out that night (and subsequently taking off).
Next, the rumors are true, Oscar Wilde bookstore is closing after decades in business. Some rumors had said that earlier this week was the final night and their website says that March 28th is their final night, but I called the store directly and they told me that they would close as soon as all their stock was gone which they project to be in about a week or two. So you might not want to delay as there are surely great deals to be had (and it’s an opportunity to say goodbye to one of New York’s many institutions that are going away forever). That’s at www.oscarwildebooks.com and the store is located at 15 Christopher Street.
Then, at 8pm, it’s another night of the taste sensation that’s rockin the nation, Porno Bingo. We have go go guy Jonny Mack who’ll give us a good peek at what’s making him the face (and other things) to watch out for these days around NYC along with the fabulous Robbyne Kaamil www.canwebereal.com (whom I just cannot wait to meet!) and our ‘monthly visitor’ the always bitchy, always drunk Amanda Takehometomother all in a night to benefit the Pos Pedalers www.pospeds.org. Bring your dollars because I think I just might convince Jonny to drop his drawers (for the right donation to the PP) That’s from 8pm to 10pm at Pieces www.piecesbar.com located at 8 Christopher Street here in New York City. We’ve cheapo drinks (get your vodka on for a mere $4) and even cheaper men who’ll do anything for a free drink and a fresh pack of Luckys.
BTW last week’s show rocked with Dan Manjovi www.danmanjovi.com (who’s latest CD “Woke Up This Morning” is currently number one on the Outvoice listener poll and his song “Somethin’s Comin’ My Way” is featured in the new film “Push” which took top honors at Sundance.. how fantastic Dan!!), Nomi DeMilo and one of our favorite stars Duke Rivers who strutted around showing off his all natural bod (take THAT A Rod!). In all, we raised $550 for Visual AIDS www.visualaids.org which inches us closer to the 80k mark. Thank you NYC.
After we have finished getting lubed up at Bingo (in all senses of the word), you can continue to get your groove on as “the godfather of nightlife” DJ Michael Formika-Jones is throwing a “no holds barred, old school East Village style party” at Hose at 225 Avenue B between 13th and 14th called “Le Raunch” featuring go go guys with nothing on but a smile and a moist towelette and raunchy sexed up guys who’ll dance on into the night. Michael warns “absolutely NO SHADE” which goes double for us at Porno Bingo (girl, if you can’t be friendly you need to take yourself to some other town because we are having none of it here in NYC anymore!)
Finally, in a completely unrelated piece of news, it’s hats off (or maybe pants off) to Chi Chi LaRue and her gang of misfit toys over at Rascal Video which just last week celebrated ten years of getting their groove on over in WeHo. Rascal pioneered the Live and Raw website and the Hotel where porn stars would stay Big Brother-like (complete with the intrigue that goes along with living in close quarters with other people and being watched all day long) as well as acquiring both All Worlds and Catalina thus creating the biggest library of gay porn in the world featuring a list of pretty big names. Exclusives alone have included Kyle Kennedy, Brandon Lee, Cole Ryder, Johnny Hazzard, Matt Summers (how I miss him!... and dude, if you read this, I still have the book you lent me.. in 2001!), Eddie Stone (who said he’d never do porn when he was a barback during my first year or so of hosting Cocktails with the Stars at Mickys…), Blake Riley and of course many many more.
So here’s to you, here’s hoping for ten more! www.c1r.com
That’s it for today… until tomorrow!
