Ouch! Owing to a server crash, the Demonicsex people lost a bunch of work just before Folsom which set them back a few days and so, after taking a big satisfying breath and rest, they're plunging ahead with finishing the trailer .. but here, for the first time, you can see the nearly completed trailer for the big extravaganza, set to film spring 2010 and sell at about this time next year. For more on the comings and goings of the project as well as to pre-order and get on the emailing list, go over to their site! Meanwhile, the powers that be tell me that the Hero's buddy has been cast a stunning Latino newcomer.. more later this week...
Below is a press release I got this afternoon from the Anti Violence Project.. just posting it verbatim while I'm away from home... this is stuff we all have to remember to take very very seriously especially as the National Equality March becomes big news in the next couple weeks (it's at times of high queer visibility -i.e. Pride - when more attacks happen). - Will Clark
COMMUNITY ALERT: HELL’S KITCHEN BIAS ATTACK
The New York City Anti-Violence Project (AVP) has learned of a bias attack in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood which occurred in the early morning hours on Saturday, September 26, 2009. During this incident, three men were physically assaulted by an individual using anti-gay epithets and hate language toward the victims.
AVP is also concerned about allegations of police inaction by the responding members of the NYPD. The victims have reported that the officers at the scene refused to take a report of the incident. AVP believes that every person who calls the police has the right to expect that the police will fully pursue all allegations. AVP has learned that the police are investigating the incident that occurred and the police response to the incident. We are encouraged by Commissioner Kelly’s commitment to investigate and urge the NYPD to make a thorough assessment of how it responds to anti-LGBT hate violence . AVP is working with the Hate Crimes Task Force and the New York City Council Speaker’s Office and continues to investigate this attack.
AVP wants people to know that even if they do not feel like they can call the police, they can always call the Anti-Violence Project. Anyone who has experienced an assault or threats of violence should call AVP’s 24-hour bilingual hotline at 212-714-1141. AVP knows that hate violence incidents such as this can affect any one of us—even if we are not the direct victims. We encourage community members to contact our hotline at 212-714-1141 and speak with a trained counselor if you feel like you need support. All services are free and confidential.
GO TO THE AVP WEBSITE AT HTTP://WWW.AVP.ORG FOR SAFETY TIPS AND MORE INFORMATION
Will be posting about what they're up to these days (and there is some wacky stuff coming up in October involving a mass same-sex wedding that we'll be counting down to especially since Kyle and his hottie new boyfriend Nick decide to get married and guess who's working security on the event, none other than Oliver... stay tuned....) but first get a load of my interview on the weekly soaps podcast for the site WE LOVE SOAPS.
Interviewer Damon L. Jacobs had an hour-long discussion of growing up with the soaps and how creative decisions on the shows are turning viewers off. I was an All My Children fan for like 30 years before I switched it off for good a few years ago. My passion for One Life to Live is quite unexpected but due, I'm sure, in part, to the fantastic (and sometimes campy) writing of the openly gay head writer.
So listen to the show, there are other interview subjects so don't know how much of our interview they used so I'll be listening right along with you! :)
More later on this week!
I first met Andrew in January 2007 when Cheer New York was a beneficiary at Porno Bingo. We were still at the 9th Ave. Bistro of course and Andrew showed up with the team and bossed people into buying bingo cards and it was an incredibly successful night. Andrew later approached me about coming in on a semi regular basis and helping out selling the cards making sweet deals with customers (I think there was more than one instance of 'buy a bunch of cards, see my cock' deals going on) and generally helping us and each week's charity pull great amounts out of funds out of the customers. Even more fabulous, especially on slow nights, Andrew would go out onto the sidewalk and literally pull people in to join us - my photographer A.B. and I just chuckled at the balls it took to be that brazen. Certainly it was an admirable trait.
What started off as a 'semi regular" thing became permanent and for about a year and a half Andrew was there every week helping out the event and the charity raise more funds.
So this Wednesday night we will toast Andrew's memory .. and maybe show a bit of cock in order to get you to buy just a few more Bingo cards. Andrew would have wanted it that way.
As A.B. said to me on the phone this afternoon: 'cherish your friends today because nobody is promised tomorrow". True enough words, buddy.
(Above picture was taken by A.B. at Bingo in April 2008 in what can only be called quintessential Andrew).
Good afternoon New York!Randy Jones party was fun and not just because an inordinate number of cast members from the upcoming Bear's Life movie were there (and might I say, flirtatious?). Also seen at least early on before it got REALLY crowded and I ducked out, Clover Honey who looks stunning these days! Broadway Cares Flea Market at Roseland. I suspect that I just walked in an open door when there was actually a line stretching down the block. ooops. Well, no one stopped me and I didn't do it maliciously. I was mainly there to collect my boyfriend who was working one of the booths for a short time, but also to support the event and see what I could see. Naturally I ran into a dozen friends in and out of the theatre industry including many members of the Imperial Court who are sizing me up for a 'drag makeover' in time for the March 27th Imperial Court event, "Night of a Thousand Gowns" .... you do the Invasion once as Loraina Terror and suddenly they want more. OK no one's clamoring for me to do drag but it might be kinda fun especially with help from those who do it right! I'm probably going to
I actually really liked the market at Roseland .. there's something about it that energized the whole event by the booths having a different spatial relationship to each other than they do outside... or maybe I just liked the FindFred guys (a new gay relationship/sex website).
And then last night I was off and running (literally because I was late) to the last Sea Tea of the season. There were laments that this past July we did our last one ... I'll just say 'never say never' and you never know what next summer will bring. One fella/fan told me "oh the muscle bears cruise totally makes up for you not doing yours" to which I smiled politely but first, what a fucking douchebaggy thing to say to the producer of an event that basically inspired the other event to happen and second, fuck that,... it's like the gauntlet has been thrown DOWN motherfucker!!! :)Leslie Lohman .. .here's a shot of Rink reflected in one of his own pieces and also a shot of a really cool building just opposite the Leslie Lohman. Neato.
This week I'll be writing sporadically about the things you and I love best: men, porn, soaps, pop culture, television, politics, New York nightlife and gay stuff. Just as always.
Well, first off, putting together even a trailer with CGI, music and actors seems daunting, but doing it under a pressure cooker of a deadline like Folsom Street Fair just sort of intensifies it.... so it's with that frame of mind that I am taking it in stride that there are some small portions of the effects that didn't quite get done today but will of course be done in the next day or two... so hang tight and of course you can bookmark the Demonicsex site and keep checking it out yourself.
And while you're there, give some thought to pre-ordering the DVD so you can be among the first to get it (about this time next year.. yes that's a long way to get payoff for an investment but if you consider the scope of the production it IS an investment).
These all describe Ricky Sinz and tonight he appears on MenLive.com for a special Sunday show (forget Desperate Housewives, THIS is what you want to be watching tonight!).
If you're a fan you know what you have to look forward to, if you've never seen him in action, it's a trip worth taking.
