Good afternoon New York!
Another fun weekend rushing around the city, rushing because it was raining and I was determined not to drag an umbrella with me the whole time! Saturday night's
Randy Jones party was fun and not just because an inordinate number of cast members from the upcoming Bear's Life movie were there (and might I say, flirtatious?). Also seen at least early on before it got REALLY crowded and I ducked out, Clover Honey who looks stunning these days!
Yesterday morning I dragged my tired bones out of bed to get to the
Broadway Cares Flea Market at Roseland. I suspect that I just walked in an open door when there was actually a line stretching down the block. ooops. Well, no one stopped me and I didn't do it maliciously. I was mainly there to collect my boyfriend who was working one of the booths for a short time, but also to support the event and see what I could see. Naturally I ran into a dozen friends in and out of the theatre industry including many members of the
Imperial Court who are sizing me up for a 'drag makeover' in time for the March 27th Imperial Court event, "Night of a Thousand Gowns" .... you do the Invasion once as Loraina Terror and suddenly they want more. OK no one's clamoring for me to do drag but it might be kinda fun especially with help from those who do it right! I'm probably going to
host a table and details on that will be coming up in the next few weeks.
I actually really liked the market at Roseland .. there's something about it that energized the whole event by the booths having a different spatial relationship to each other than they do outside... or maybe I just liked the FindFred guys (a new gay relationship/sex website).
And then last night I was off and running (literally because I was late) to the last Sea Tea of the season. There were laments that this past July we did our last one ... I'll just say 'never say never' and you never know what next summer will bring. One fella/fan told me "oh the muscle bears cruise totally makes up for you not doing yours" to which I smiled politely but first, what a fucking douchebaggy thing to say to the producer of an event that basically inspired the other event to happen and second, fuck that,... it's like the gauntlet has been thrown DOWN motherfucker!!! :)
Just a reminder that the photography show by Rink is still up at the
Leslie Lohman .. .here's a shot of Rink reflected in one of his own pieces and also a shot of a really cool building just opposite the Leslie Lohman. Neato.
This week I'll be writing sporadically about the things you and I love best: men, porn, soaps, pop culture, television, politics, New York nightlife and gay stuff. Just as always.
