The longest I've ever celebrated my birthday was three years ago when, in early February, an out of town friend was visiting and officially started the birthday season with a birthday dinner. The season lasted until mid April with a birthday party in my apartment that ultimately (I think) was a contributing factor in my long time roommate deciding to move out that summer. I don't do a lot of holiday parties but I sure do work the fuck out of the birthday angle.
This year I started "late" with this past Wednesday at Bingo. This is a little late but no matter, I think I'll make up for quantity with quality. To wit - a fabulous night with fabulous friends raising over $700 for rider Kip for this September's Braking the Cycle - the 300 mile bike ride from Boston to New York. I'm still aiming to do the 100 mile ride (named The Century) from New York to Montauk and am already starting to train for it because THIS YEAR Im going to do it (and I've even found that there's an actual Century group that rides every early September).
Anyway, last years Mr. NY Leather Jase Woodruff (who is now an emperor in the Imperial Court and will be featured again at this years Night of a Thousand Gowns) joined us for the night as did singer Phil Putnam who I must say deserves the Porno Bingo Medal of Honor for putting up, in stride, with technical difficulties that made one of the microphone's inoperable so he couldn't perform. On the other hand, Phil is fun to share the stage with and we had a good time calling balls. We'll certainly have him back this spring!
Now one of the things that happens is that random people volunteer to help out and such was the case with the sexy Anton who doffed his shirt and started helping Kip sell raffle tickets for two goodie bags plus a bottle of Veuve Clicquot. This is definitely a man who gets a spanking for being good (and I'm sure that there was someone there who helped make that happen .... or at least I HOPE so!)
Thanks also to Kip who brought birthday cake for DJ Baker and I ...and if you missed out wishing me a happy birthday, well, we'll be celebrating it again on March 10th and on March 17th. and I'll be celebrating at Splash Friday night March 12th with DJ Randy Bettis and our special guests Channel 1 Releasing's Johnny Hazzard and singer Inaya Day. Never let it be said that I can't beat a concept into the ground. :)
