So a few months ago I got a last minute invite to attend the second to the last taping of the Tyra Banks Show that featured a big gay wedding - three couples vying for $200,000 in prizes. I sat in the front row and enjoyed the show - Tyra is so fun and natural as a show host and it was fun to feel like I was getting to see some behind the scenes stuff.
Anyway, at the end of the show the couples shared wedding cake and some guys to my left in the front row yelled out 'hey what about us?" and so Tyra motioned for the audience assistants to start passing out the pre plated cake - but it wasnt going fast enough and the guys in the front were getting visibly itchy - so Tyra did what any good host would do, she broke off from what she was doing on stage and, with cake in hand, dropped down to the audience floor level and started handing out globs of cake to the guys. The spirit of fun rose and the noise in the room amplified and it was just kinda crazy with people cheering and applauding and then Tyra got to me and I expected her to hand the piece to me .. but no she held some cake in her mouth and motioned for me to take it from her - with my mouth.
Now I am a perfect Kinsey 6 as has been reported many times in this space but getting to go in close was a total trip - and kinda hot. And yes I opened my mouth and ate the cake right out of her mouth - my lips grazing hers ever so slightly. The cake broke and spilled all over both of us but our eyes met and we just laughed part in embarrassment and partly a how fun it had been! A few minutes later she looked back at me still laughing from the stage and held up her hand, invisible phone style, mouthing "call me". I would if I could!
So I was made aware through some mutual friends this past week that this Thursday the Tyra Gay Wedding show was going to be on and so today I turned on the set to see if I'd made the cut - and I discovered a "I kissed a girl and I liked it episode" and was kind of bummed.. until I saw the promo for the wedding episode and yes they used the clip of me taking the cake right out her mouth!!

I'm not quite clear why they didn't show this live on 11 today but I'm wondering if there are two Tyra's in a row (that'd be kind of weird, right?) But in any event, you can see the ep on line. I know it ain't all that (some folks I know would turn that little moment into "I'm best friends with Tyra Banks" which I will not be doing LOL) but it is pretty cool and you know, I got the offer at the last minute and had to go alone and almost turned back - but glad I didn't especially because I've got this really cool thing to say I did. Awesome.
UPDATE: apparently there are TWO Tyra episodes - a repeat and the actual episode - the promo disapeered from the Warner Brothers site and presumably the episode is still there although the link seems to be broken. Bummer.. But I'm watching it live now and so that's pretty amazing. I'm at the end so have to wade through this all over again just to see it.. yeah I know what you're thinking but I think it's worth it! :)
