One of the highlights for me this past year was getting to read at one of the final "In The Flesh" nights at
Happy Endings (oh Rachel, why did you stop?) where I read a piece I wrote "Diary of a Gaeity Stripper". I discovered the piece when I was looking for just that right one to read for the night... and with a little nip and tuck editing, it turned out beautifully.
Also reading that night, blogger Cas Marino who would later comment to me when we talked about the gay community "when did we get so old, Will?" to which I silently replied to myself only "I stopped aging a decade ago - at least that's what my Frienster ad says". :)
Anyway Cas appeared at the Will Clark Show earlier this autumn and Im looking forward to his return appearance sometime in 2011. BTW I had originally booked him for an appearance before I knew what we were raising money for - and once I decided that the show was going to help our photog AB get to Puerto Rico to attend a theatre festival he had a show in, I offered to Cas that he could opt out and choose another night. And when Cas responded that because the arts is so fucking underfunded (he might not have said 'fucking' but I certainly inserted in because of my own rage against decreasing ars funding) it was his pleasure to get a deserving playwright to a destination where his work was going to be performed. It was then that I knew Cas I would get along very well. :)
Anyway, when I asked Cas what his 2011 resolution and wish was, he answered: "In the new year I resolve to be kinder to myself and stop being my own worst critic; Lord knows I have enough harsh critics out there without me carrying the banner for their team. In terms of wishes, I would like this to be there year I finally meet my match -- spiritually, intellectually, and romantically."
