Four Chances to Catch OH LAND Free in NYC

Have you ever thought - 'wow why am I paying so much money in rent and groceries, much less putting up with all the crap that I do on a daily basis, just to live in New York City? Why? What am I getting out of it?" Yes we've all been there and after too many times of murmering to people "Not a Good Place to Stop" I reached my limit last week.. but maybe, just maybe we/I stay because things like this pop up all the time - where else would this happen?

What is "it"?

Why free shit. Cool free shit. Really neat, can't believe that I'm going to it free shit. Sometimes it manifests itself in theatre tickets (and we are especially grateful when it's stuff I am SO glad I didn't pay to see) or readings of new plays (it's really astounding the amount of things being created), art openings, drag shows and on and on.

This week for all of you who are privvy to living in the city, Oh Land, the much buzzed about electro pop star from Denmark will be throwing four parties for her debut album, at the Charles Bank Gallery (196 Bowery). Yeah, four. Each one will feature the work of artist Eske Kath (sculptures, paintings, projections, etc) that encompass the feeling of the album as you walk through the gallery. And yeah, Oh Land will be on hand to perform live each night at 8:30.  The gallery opens for each exhibition at 8 yeah there'll be cocktails.That's tonight March 29th, March 30th, March 31st and Friday April 1st.

See, that's a perk that you just couldn't get if you packed up your stuff and moved to Maine (not that Maine isn't gorgeous but, well, you see the tradeoff yes?).

Music Monday: Making Monday Mellow - 2 by Rumer

Rumer (not Rumer Willis by the way - I'm shocked that there are two Rumers... next you'll tell me that there are two gals named Apple!) is an emerging artist who has a new album out this summer and this cut from the album, "Slow" will have you remembering that oh yeah, people don't have to wear clothes made out of meat if they have a good tune to sing... I heard this over the weekend and I'm going to file it under "things to listen to when the world gets crazy/nutty". 

She's got a Burt Bacharach/Karen Carpenter vibe and that's something that's been missing from music.  Check out the second the video, "Am I Forgiven?"  below "Slow" and you'll hear what I mean by the KC comparison....

No time like the present to make it happen for yourself.. you don't need anyone's permission to move forward and succeed doing anything and everything you've ever wanted to do ... but you gotta first believe that you are worthwhile enough to put the time in. Tragedy in Japan - A Video to Keep Your Priorities in Check

I'm mainly posting this because it's such a stunning piece of video and it moved me so much ... I want to have it here on the blog so I can find it again when I am in that "urban place of annoyance" - you know the place I mean - the one where we complain about the cost of the subway and the rising price of gas and that it's nearly April and it's 40 degrees and how tired of winter we are..... you know, the stuff that we think is really bad, but in the end, it's not. For most of us, no matter how bad things are here, you just cannot compare watching a river rise, wipe out a boat house and over run and entire town.

What astonishes me the most is that whomever was taking the video must have been trembling worried that the water was going to rise to engulf them... and you'll see at various moments that the camera pans down below and the water is indeed rising. Obviously the person got out safely but I would love to know the story - how close did it get - and after you watch your entire town get washed away - I mean WASHED AWAY right beore your very eyes, what the fuck do you do after that?? How do you go on??

Now tomorrow morning I might silently snarl at the busker screaching as I'm about to get on the train at 8:30am.. but cripes, I might also be grateful that there's a busker and a subway still to be annoyed at!

Will Clark's Journal: Alessio Romero Makes Everyone Horny and then Inaya Day Sings About It

Though the birthday extravaganza wound down and the Black Party was over, there was no rest for our wicked crew at the Will Clark Show.

With Cheer New York to keep my spirits up, I welcomed my guests, porn hottie Alessio Romero who had just finished topping someone at a Lucas Entertainment shoot ("My dick hurts" ... I'll bet!!) and pop superstar Inaya Day who belted out a couple numbers including her signature tune "Horny"... which was completely appropriate because Alessio put us in that space and Inaya simply sang about it!

I auctioned off Alessio's jockstrap to the tune of $400 ($200 bid and a matching bid by an anonymous donor) plus we auctioned off tickets to the revival of HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS starring Daniel Radcliff!

And with bingo cards and a few other donations, we managed to tally the night up to the tune of $1100.00 to go to Cheer's work with LGBT homeless youths.

Thanks to all who made this possible including my fabulous guests and Lucas Entertainment for donating some DVDs that Alessio is in to give away as prizes!

Will Clark's Journal: Making Ends Meat at The Black Party Expo - Gallery of Pics Now Posted

Like at any Expo, the merchandise for sale is on display and nowhere more vividly than at this year's Black Party Expo which featured the international gay male escort awards - The Hookies which took place at Roseland prior to the Black Party Friday March 18th and Saturday March 19th.

Stars from around the country came to New York for the show and to perform the next night at the Black Party. From Michael Brandon from San Francisco to Chad Brock and Clay Towers from Chicago; from porn legend Chase Hunter coming up from Fort Lauderdale to Avi Dar and Rafael Alencar who make New York their home... the stars came out in force.

Mike Dreyden and Robyn Byrd hosted the red carpet and got to interview actor Leslie Jordan who was hosting the fete and, later, Mike turned up at the Instigator booth (where he now works full time in Los Angeles).

Seen: Sam Colt, Alessio Romero, Tony Serrano, Derrick Hanson, Gus Mattox, Jay Black, Michael Lucas, Mr. Pam and more including Dorothy Bishop who stars as Sarah Paylin in those "Nailin Paylin" videos... and although I wanted to show the video of Rafael pissing into an Expo visitor's mouth on stage (although I suspect the 'volunteer' for that might not have been a total stranger) I think that probably violates one or two of You Tube's content rules! LOL
