Will Clark's Journal: Gusty Winds Guests on The Will Clark Show April 13th

For those of you following these updates, I'm now only six weeks behind but, as I'm about to get on a flight to go to Chicago for the annual IML weekend, it's unlikely that I'll put too many more galleries up  over the weekend (but hey, you never know how the weekend is going to pan out with regards to what will happen so I'd check back or join my Facebook account so you can get notified of updates when/if they happen) although I have finished going through the April 20th Bryan Slater night and there are some hot hot hot pics there.. so I will endeavor to post those before I get busy in a sling - or maybe in between this or that while I'm 'just resting".

Anyway, on April 13th my dear friend Gusty Winds co-hosted Bingo with me for the evening and as usual, we had a great time. Gusty has a mouth like a drunken sailor and, by conicidence, is also full of semen. Kidding. (sure, why not?) :)

We raised a few hundred bucks for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and spent the evening avoiding sobriety at all costs - which is pretty much how I spend every Wednesday evening (which is why I hold the event in a bar and not at Miss Uptight Ass's Tea Party Chalet - although I wish that was a real place because I would totally go and get my Chamomile on). We were visited by friends from Australia and people licked each other in the ear. It was that kind of night. :)

There aren't many pictures this week because well, I think we were just having too much damn fun to really care about chronicling the night which you know is sort of the point. Thanks to AB, as usual, for the photos....... you can find them here in the free gallery.

Will Clark's Journal: April 6th's Hot Hot Hot Torez Pics Posted (and Will as the Flash!)

So I love superheroes anyway and when the guys behind the new organization, Brainpower, approached me about benefiting from The Will Clark Show feat.  P*rno Bingo and told me how they were getting comics industry professionals to mentor homeless LGBT youth, helping them get into careers in the arts, I thought that a Superhero themed night would be fantastic! And on April 6th, we did just that.

Now I have to admit that many many years ago I fashioned a Superman costume out of a blue ballet onesie, some red cloth that I got from a fabric store and red underoos. It was one of those things that I threw together at the last minute - and always thought that I'd get or make something better but would end up wearing the outfit again and again over the years. True, I sometimes added leather (I'd mess up my hair, smoke a cig and snarl, "I'm SuperSlut!") and once I lent it to my then boyfriend and I did my only Halloween in drag as an unintentional Lois Lane (the friend who did my makeup was so skilled that when I met him and our friends at the West Hollywood street festival, he literally didn't recognize me).

But after mumblety mumble years of wearing it over and over again, I decided that it was time to simply buy one that was pre made. I kind of think the homemade costumes are the best - they have that slapped together feel that is charming - it's kind of like leather in that anyone can just go to the Leatherman, whip out a credit card and buy a bunch of leather, but the leather has to be used, worn and dirtied for it to have texture and meaning. But even having the history that I did with the Superman costume, I thought maybe it was time to whip out my credit card and get a real costume.

Strangely settling on the right one was a hard decision - would I go with a well made Superman costume or did I feel more like someone else. Ultimately I decided to buy a Flash costume (and by the way, FYI buying a costume is nearly exactly the same as renting one so I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't just buy it).  When I was growing up, one of the first three superhero comic books that I bought was an issue of The Flash and I have been a fan of the mythologies ever since.

Anyway, on our April 6th night I encouraged people to come dressed up and well, few did but I'll try again because I think it's hot to see guys in latex/lycra/spandex, etc. Torez showed up  wearing a very very hot wrestling singlet that might as well have been a superhero costume - and let me tell you, as you can see in the pics, he looked MIGHTY super in it!! Woof.

Artist Andy Swist graciously came in early to spend an hour creating an original piece of artwork of Torez as a Superhero. You can see the finished product - it has a sort of Captain America vibe to it. V v hot.

Plus, as a special added bonus, singer Emily McNamara joined us and rocked the place as she always does when she comes. Now she I could see as Supergirl - hopefully next time! Will Clark's Journal: March 30th Will Clark Show Pics Posted

You know how it is .. you get out of your regular rhythm of doing things and suddenly it's two months later.. and that's what happened to me with Bingo pics (and this blog really) due to a demanding day job. Not that I'm complaining at all - after being unemployed for a long long time, I was thrilled to be able to be at work again in the 9 to 5 world. But it did mean that certain things - like posting the weekly Bingo pics - got left behind (think of the job as the Rapture).

Starting today and throughout the week I'll be playing catch up with posting galleries.

First up, my March 30th show featuring the always awesome Lailah Lancing who showed up after shedding a bunch of weight - and I think it was, in part, due to her last Bingo appearance where she caught pics of herself and decided that it was time to get serious about getting back in shape. (I know the feeling all too well, Lailah - the camera is a fickle bitch who does not care that you're too busy to get to the gym and that the drumstick from KFC is oh so delicious and oh yes, I'll take an entire Dominoes pizza to go with that thankyouverymuch).

Also appearing-  kick ass Grammy nominated vocalist Janid who brought down the house and Lady Clover Honey who looked lovely as always and all appeared so that we could raise a few hundred dollars for the Transgender Legal Defense Fund. George Benson's Here Comes the Sun

If you've never heard George Benson's version of HERE COMES THE SUN, you are missing a rare treat.. and as we close out on our first day escaping from near destruction (OK my eyes are rolling a little) I thought it might be appropriate ...I first heard this in high school shortly after the death of my father... but it was a more mournful version .. and you know I decided that it's really time to stop dwelling in sadness, and so am instead focusing on this version which is rockier/popier/funkier and more upbeat (but still different than The Beatles) lots going on this week... check back often and favorite! :)

Good Morning World... Are We Still Here?

I'm writing this on Friday before I head to Boston Saturday and Sunday and so from my point of view, May 21st has not happened yet.. was it the Rapture or a Fakepocalypse? If you're reading this, it was the latter.

It's a New Day. It's a New Dawn.

Seriously.

Maybe we dodged a bullet and ought to make the most out of this new life, this new day, this new dawn. What do you say??

and if you don't know what I'm talking about and just how good life can be, you need to hear Nina Simone pull out the good from the bad, it' a new day, it's a new life .... for all of us!

 

End of the World Saturday BONUS: LOST Finale Still Makes Me Bawl

Regular readers of the blog know how much of a LOST fan I was during the show's run and how much I worried that the finale was going to suck ass. Ironically my partner thought the ending was crap while I felt it was profound giving hope - no matter what tragedies that befall each of us - there is Something at work that will reunite us somewhere/when. I promise to throw the best party ever for all those who want to join me - the most fabulous singers, drag queens, porn stars, djs and it will last days, weeks and years.. that's what heaven would be for me. :0

Back when I was producing the Bad Boys Pool Party at the Cree Estate, the story was that the previous owner of the property, Wally, had died during one of his own bacchanalian events held on his estate... and I thought "man, that is the way to go".. but if not that, then surrounded by loved ones as I close my eyes for the final time. With keening. Lots of keening. >wink<

The music accompianying is some of my favorite - haunting, sad, sentimental, dark with a hint of hope. Yeah it didn't make much sense ... but neither then does life in the end and I think if one comes to accept that inherant confusion as part of the fabric of How Things Are, it opens each of us up to exploring the mysteries, even if we may never truly get any answers (and how like LOST, right?).

End of the World Saturday: The Song I'd Like to Hear When the World Ends. Really.

I think I've probably posted this on this blog at least once or twice in the past... but definitely the song I would want to hear as the world ends (as well as whatever wedding - if any- that I ever have, and also at my funeral although presumably I won't be there to hear it) is the Supreme's "I Hear A Symphony". Simply the best pop song of love, desire, joy and euphoria ever written and sung.

I can imagine the buildings toppling and fire shooting across the sky and I and the BF curled up in each others arms listening to the magical songs of Diana Ross. I mean, the woman sang in a rainstorm in Central Park, the end of the world is a piece of cake in comparison (and those of you who have never been caught in the rain in Central Park think I'm making an absurd comparison, but those who have know differently).

During one of the other fakepocalypses I've gone through in my lifetime, the thought that's gone across my mind is "would I want to be blitzed out of my mind when the end came?" and yes I suppose there is a thought that that would be easier (not to mention a lot of fun - who wouldn't want to finish everything in the liquor cabinet and not have to think about liver damage or the hangover?) but I think I'd want to drink in and experience everything about it... it will only come once and in theory won't last that long.. so why not be fully aware of it while you can?  One misses so much by blacking out. :)

End of the World Saturday: The (Not) Fat Lady Sings at The End of the World

I heard this at a time when I had become fed up with a lot of things in the porn industry - the way most porn performers get at one point of their careers..it happens to everyone and I've never met anyone who didn't experience exactly the same thing when encountering the bullshit of the entertainment biz.

I had heard the song in the ether but it wasn't until I was visiting Chicago for IML and went with friends to a popular Italian restaurant after being honored at the Grabbys with a Performer of the Year award. Dear friends and fans were there and the song came on and .. it seemed to speak to me. That I had gone where I could go and the people before me were on my journey with me and I couldn't ask for finer friends at the time. Do you have those moments where you just know you're going to relive it over and over .. it's amazing when you know it as you're living it and that was one of those moments for me. The music, the food, the noise of chatter of the restaurant, the friends gathered to have a wonderful meal together... and when I asked the owner of the restaurant the name of the CD, he smiled and picked it off the wall and gave it to me. I could scarcely believe it. I have goosebumps everytime I think of it. The generosity of those around me inspired and continues to inspire me daily.

Towards the end of the piece, the music raises up yet another level and I have often imagined that it's what entering Heaven might sound like.
