About Brainpower
Founded in 1970 by Marshall McLuhan, Andy Warhol, Jackie Curtis and Ben Stock: Brainpower works
one-on-one with artists and provides classes in art and business to our students in small groups. In April 2011, it will introduce The Superhero Project, a series of arts classes taught by Ivan Velez, Jr (DC, Marvel, “Tales of the Closet”) and freelance photojournalist Adi Talwar (NY Times Wall Street Journal, Montefiore Hospital) for homeless LGBT youth. The group will create comic book art that will later go on exhibition and sale at LDR Studio Gallery as part of the Bronx Culture Trolley, an art tour.
The SuperHero Project is made possible in part with public funds from the Bronx Council on the Arts through the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program.
