TODAY May 19th: DANCE PARADE NEW YORK CITY #DP2012

GOOD MORNING PEEPS... If you're in New York City today you know just how amazing it is outside - so if you're reading this indoors, slowly reach over to the 'off' button and press... and then go outside and enjoy this amazing day.

And I know that you have a million and one things to do in town (don't we always?) but there is one big event that you have to check out - and that's the annual party event, the New York Dance Parade where thousands of dancers entertain spectators in vibrant costumes (preview below).

The parade kicks off at E. 21st and Broadway at 1 and runs down University Place and over on St. Mark's Place to the dance party following in Tomkins Square Park at 3.

I've never been but the Will Clark Show DJ Chauncey Dandridge says he lives for this event every year - and after seeing the pictures, I can see why!!

Marriage Equality, Homophobia and "What Makes You Beautiful" #marriageequality #anythinggoes #broadway

Good morning peeps!

It's dark and gloomy in New York City today but you don't have to be (dark and gloomy). Sure, the recent events from North Carolina and all the buzzing from Biden and Obama to Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rev. Al Sharpton seem to have given every homophobe in the country reason to be openly hateful (and stupid) but hey at least the public - the ones that are somewhere in the middle on their opinion of teh gayz and same-sex marriage are seeing what we've seen all along - just how rude and ugly things are for us.

Contrary to others who are wishing them to stop - I hope every homophobe weighs in with their crazy opinion so that the world can really see what they sound like - because sometimes when it's a comment here and a comment there, I think the general American public just doesn't really get how awful they themselves sound.

Naturally this will be validation for some (ie a public figure institutionalizing homophobia) but I think, in the end, these open and virulent attacks simply underscore the need for laws in place to protect the LGBT community. And of course they wouldn't be quite so intense if this rapidly shrinking group of people didn't on some level recognize that the time of this being acceptable conversation is, at last, over. No one fights harder than when they know the end is near.

And for some, especially closet cases *coughRickSantorumcough* being anti-gay is the shield they protect themselves with against having to deal with the truth of their own selves. I'd rather think that they are simply lashing out at us out of a sense of self-presevation (not because the LGBT community will cause -what nonsense- the end of humanity, but in the fragile protection that being anti-gay gives them) than that they are just batshit crazy or downright mean.

To wash away this negativity, please take a few minutes to watch this video made by the cast of ANYTHING GOES. It's a lip-sync of "What Makes You Beautiful" by One Direction. I want to meet the hottie with the shaved head.. he seems like he's awesomely fun! :)

By and large, I've been too busy dealing with sane people this past month to indulge in a rant about Kirk Cameron's crazy pants ranting about how the gays are destroying civilization - no, my friend, the other 90% of the population in charge of our country have done that all by themselves, they didn't need teh gayz help to make that happen. Maybe if there were a few more of the gays focusing on being fabulous rather than oh I don't know, VPs shooting their hunting buddies in the face with a rifle or divorcing their wives while they lay in a coma, we might all be better off.

In any event, better bloggers than I have taken him to task and while I could be bitter and wonder aloud why he hasn't been fired from the show he's on, I have to realize, oh no, Kirk Cameron isn't actually employed as an actor (at least not that I'm aware) so what he was doing on Piers Morgan in the first place is the biggest mystery of them all.

But whatever. I digress. If you, like me, want to see the shit kicked out of KC (verbally people, VERBALLY) then take a gander at this video made by other child stars speaking out against Cameron's unbelievably small mind. Truth to tell, this is the most buzz that Kirk Cameron has had in about oh 20 years and he should get down on his knees and... well, let's just stop at saying he should be grateful and leave it at that. This is, after all, a family blog. :)

Welcome to Tuesday peeps! Hope you had a great Easter weekend -I spent it here working on a project that I"ll be talking about on Thursday this week (just 48 hours away..ack!) but hopefully you had a weekend filled with much more fun than sitting at a desk staring at a computer screen! :) Actually it was also nice to catch up posting Bingo pics.. later today I'll post last week's fun night with Joe Zaso, Raine Brown and the incredible DiSanto!

A Gay Marine Love Story #gaymarine

There are two things that I live for as a blogger - when someone super intelligent comments on some puffed up celebrity saying/doing something outrageously bigoted and/or stupid (like Rachel Maddow calling out Sarah Palin on her call to end fruit fly testing - when said test has helped her autistic child) and when something populist happens that is incredibly moving (like the "Forever" wedding dance). This is an example of the latter.

Earlier this week, the blogosphere blew up over the photo of a Marine's homecoming kiss with his boyfriend. To me, it was on par with the infamous end of WW2 photo of the soldier kissing the nurse ... passionate and genuine. This is a little feature that one of the news programs did on the couple - just ordinary guys in love and a moment captured forever. (BTW I didn't create this graphic, I discovered it on the net, thanks to whomever did put this together) :)

About six months ago I had the pleasure of taking in Bianca Leigh's wonderful one woman show, BUSTED: THE MUSICAL which not only refers to Bianca's transformation from Jersey boy to Manhattan actress but also about the night she spent in New York's infamous prison known as The Tombs, "busted" while working for a notorious dominatrix. Usually a picture would be worth a thousand words but it might interest you to know that not only is Jay easy on the eyes (and not so bad to touch either) but he's got a sparkling personality and a kick ass smile. Second City Video: Gay Gingers Save The Redheaded Race!

I'm usually underwhelmed by most of what Second City does online but this 2 minute short called GAY GINGER BREEDERS (which, you know, sort of sounds like a very very niche Treasure Island video) is quite funny - I lost it the moment they started whipping batter - and as a ginger (which really does sound better than "redhead") I think this is kinda an awesome idea (now how do I get to be in their next video??).
