So I spent most of last week packing up the 'guts' of my apartment, making trips downtown to my partner's apartment and scrubbing and cleaning my apartment for summer college student subletters. Fun fun fun! Actually it was one of the easiest moves I've ever made - although I have to admit that part of the reason it was easy was because I didn't have to move every little thing .. for example the box under my bed where I keep my own personal stash of porn (a Playgirl from 1986 still in mint condition), lube, towels, condoms, toys etc is still there under the bed where two college students (straight) are sleeping. I feel that the homo energy of the place will seep up. I realized only after I left that all the cool vintage AMG dvds that I kept (pretty much the only thing that I'm holding on to in a collector way erotica-wise, because the volumes are really amazing) in the drawer in the credenza where the TV sits. They're unopened but they're there next to my FRIENDS dvds. Ooops. Oh well, nothing like continuing education (theirs not mine!).
I missed the bear weekend and AIDS Walk but I did do WHEN JOEY MARRIED BOBBY which continues tonight at 8pm and then again the next two weekends - no word if we're being extended or not so if you haven't seen the show, at this point, you've 7 more opportunities to do so (tonight, four shows next weekend and then the 28th and 29th). I've really had a blast doing legit acting again and, after two student films and a couple of auditions, I've got the acting 'bug' again (although I'm talking like hosting a weekly show isn't a form of 'legit acting').
Speaking of the acting bug, I also went to Lincoln Center to see a remastered or redigitized (or something like that) version of A STAR IS BORN which, to me, is super gay (and it wasn't just because Barry Manilow and New York/LA MC Scott Nevins were sitting in the back row of the theatre and if THAT isn't gay, I don't know what is). The BF and I went with a straight female friend of ours and we ran into two good friends there and so it became a fivesome. I leaned into the straight female friend halfway through (yes, horrors I've never seen this movie before in it's entirety) and said "this is like the gayest thing EVER". It's her favorite movie so I think she was offended but it's got high drama (like James Mason's silent scream is fucking fabulous), tons of musical numbers and Judy Garland - you couldn't get much gayer unless you had Bruno Bond and Steve Cruz having sex right there on stage. There's even a super gay subtext (just why IS Norman Maine self destructing?? hmmmm?) I'm just saying.
Apparently there's a rumor that there exists a complete version (rather than the one that exists now with stills and voice over in various places) and if you are a movie buff or just someone who likes to sit around and sign petitions, you can go HERE and sign a petition to get film producer Michael Arick, who is rumored to have this version in his personal collection, to give or loan it to the MPAA to be shown/copied, etc.
That's enough to get us started today but since it's Music Monday enjoy this You Tube video of multiple takes from the flick of "The Man That Got Away"...
