All summer long you read me go on and on in this space about Braking the Cycle benefiting from my Bingo night at Pieces. All told, we raised over $7,300 this summer including matching funds! It was quite a lot of fun too to get to know so many riders. But the bigger accomplishment was that 125 riders rode 300 miles late last month and ended up raising over $318,000 for the HIV/AIDS services at the GLBT Center here in New York. Thanks to all of you who joined us at Bingo throughout the summer and had some fun with us!
Below is a video made by rider Terry Christopher who has been a fixture for us at the event. I'll admit that when I first saw that it clocks in at 7 minutes, I thought 'oy' but I have to tell you, seeing the entire process laid out in photos was really an incredible experience. I've had lovers and friends who have done this and other versions of the ride and certainly can imagine what it's like but this is the first time I really felt like I saw both the fun and the exhaustion of taking on such an endeavor. Thanks to Terry for sharing it.
BTC will be the beneficiary for our 300th show on January 12th and for our 6th anniversary show on February 16th (the actual day we started in 2005). More of course on the lineup for those nights in the new year.
