This was my tweet a few minutes ago: "Good for Ellen for giving Perez Hilton the 3rd degree on his ridiculous justifications for being a bully himself #perezhilton #ellen" as Hilton was on the Ellen Show admitting how much of a bully he's been on his site (what he did to Dustin Lance Black is just one example of how cruel Perez is) .. but do we believe him?
The cynic in me says that at best, he's made his money and he can afford to be a 'legit' writer without resorting to dirty names and tactics and, at worst, he's simply riding a wave of contrition that will net him more readers.
However, the optimist in me wants to believe him and hopes that it's true because wouldn't it be nice if that's how the world really worked?
Bottom line? He wouldn't be popular if people didn't enjoy his lacerations of the famous. So if we want to know who to 'blame', we only have to look in the mirror. Without his audience he'd just go back to being the guy who looks like Ortho from Beetlejuice.
With everything people have said about him over the years, and hypocrite is what get to him?
Oy.
