For all the queer artists out there, here's a chance to get your awesome work displayed AND help out a really terrific organization, Housing Works. The deadline is this upcoming Friday June 15th and the opening night party is at 6pm on Monday June 18th. It's just the kind of cool, culture-y thing to do while you're still recovering from Folsom Street East (the day before on W. 28th Street) and as you slide into the madness of Gay Pride Week in New York City!
Even though when I recently applied for a job as their Communication Director, and they told me that I didn't have enough community activism experience (what a crock o crap, right? the work that I've done with their new partner, Braking the Cycle alone is more than enough for me to at least be interviewed for cryin out loug), I still support the organization wholeheartedly.. because even though the person in their HR department is clearly an idiot, the work that the org does is amazing. :)
Here's the press release FYI and you can find out more about one of the featured artists in the event, Scooter LaForge, by clicking here
