Tonight I have a couple of newcomers to the Will Clark Show - I first saw drag queen Honey LaBronx cavorting on the 1 train one night this summer after coming home from some event or another. There she was lip synching to "It's Raining Men" on the MTA. You know, I have a certain rant that I go into about buskers and I know I'm not alone because most people become VERY VERY interested in whatever they're reading whenever the bongo guy (UGH) or the trio of older guys sings "this little light of mine" for the millionth time (really guys, learn another song) ... but everyone sort of sat up and took notice when Honey and a pal boarded the train and set up shop turning on the boombox and well, pole dancing (don't think you haven't wanted to, I know I have). At first I was like 'oh nooooo, please don't be crazy, and if you are, please don't be someone I know...' but once they got into it and started engaging the passengers who (btw) joined in (which is a first in my 20 years riding the New York subway), well, it was pretty awesome. Anyway, not only does Honey have a vegan cooking show but she's also one of the newest members of the Lucky Cheng's family (which just moved to mid-town).
Antonio Manero is a new adult video star with Cockyboys so we won't have any of his video work to give away (we'll just have to imagine!) but we will have some Cockyboys flicks to give away. The Cockyboys guys are pretty awesome in their own right - along with Lucas Entertainment, we've had a really high quality steady stream of porn stars these past few months. And you know, I have yet to meet one of the Cockyboys guys that wasn't as interesting as a person as they are hot on the outside. And I've been in the biz since 1995, and that's a pretty high rate for any one studio. (I mean I know when you're doing your business watching them on your tv or computer, you really care or maybe even want to know that they can form entire sentences together and have something interesting to talk about.. but as an event producer, it's exactly what makes a good guest).
Now our beneficiary tonight is the Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance and they've been a longtime Bingo beneficiary and I heartily support their work uptown. Not only do they do really incredible work throughout the year bringing a variety of LGBT works to an area of town where being LGBT isn't exactly the easiest thing.. but at this time of the year, they present their gay/Latino version of A Christmas Carol with a little Nutcracker thrown in.
I've been every year the past five or six years and it's become an annual tradition for me. It's almost as if it's not really Xmas unless I've seen this show. Tonight at Bingo, Ill have some vouchers for the winners of Bingo to go see the show during it's run which starts in a couple weeks (currently Macha is doing her show up there).
Win Cockyboys flicks, show tickets for Mimi Imfurst and Robin Byrd (and MORE). Happy Hour priced drinks. And 100% of the proceeds goes to benefit the Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance aka BAAD!
About Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance
The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance was created by Bessie Award-winning dancer/choreographer, Arthur Aviles along with the help of the Point Community Development Corporation. For the first part of the project, they worked with the building owners to convert 9000 square feet of raw warehouse space into a performance/workshop space, and artist's studios. The performance area (3500 sq. ft.) houses BAAD! one of the new hot performance spaces in New York City and is the home of Arthur Aviles Typical Theatre dance company. The artist studios house painters, sculptors, designers and visual artists. The warehouse space is located in the legendary American Banknote Building.
The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance is a 70 seat performance and workshop space dedicated to presenting challenging works of established and emerging choreographers, dancers, playwrights, musicians, visual artists, poets, writers and directors.
