Good evening all - for all my guests over the past couple months who have been asking when I'm going to post Bingo pics - my many apologies.
As you all know, shortly after the January 3rd show, I went on a fabulous Caribbean cruise for 12 days and I'd no sooner returned than I had to deal with the death of my partner's father as well as a move from The Ritz where we'd been doing the Will Clark Show feat. P*rno Bingo since April 2012.
We are now happily ensconsed at Uncle Charlie's now, back on our original night (Wednesdays) and our original time (9pm to 11pm) and, just as an added bonus, with our original bartender (Manny!).
I know that we have changed places, times, days a couple times in the past year, and I hope that I haven't completely confused everyone and that our friends and fans will come by to enjoy the show again that has been a New York staple for the past 8 years.
I'm pretty proud of the work we did at The Ritz. We moved from Pieces last year for a lot of reasons but chiefly because I felt that we needed a change and a challenge. What I got was a lot of change and a lot of challenge - new venue, time and day all at the same time ... thankfully I had editorial and advertising help from NEXT (you guys rock!).
Over those months, we struggled to find our groove at the new venue, and make the venue's dream of creating an audience for 7pm shows a reality. Of course, there's a reason why there are no shows at 7pm! LOL But, you know, I think it was good for me and my peeps (AB and Chauncey) to have accepted the challenge, no matter what the outcome.
And, to our credit, after a number of months admittedly, we were starting to create our niche.. but it ultimately was already too late. And, ultimately because I am the producer and emcee, it is my responsiblity and I shoulder that for better or for worse.
So, it's probably little wonder to anyone why it's taken me this long to start posting the pics from our final weeks there. I take responsibility for being let go, but it sure smarted for awhile. :)
Processing these pics today, I am reminded that we are better suited for a bar like Charlies - people are much more up for our awesome performances and chatty Cathy Bingo games.
But I am also reminded at all the awesome performances that we had that maybe we wouldn't have had otherwise - . Unfortunately due to tech problems (mic and lighting snafus) many of the videos of these performances are unusable as posting on You Tube. That's a bummer.
In any event, on this night, January 3rd, as I was heading to the Caribbean, we had a bon voyage party titled, "Butt Pirates of the Caribbean". The awesome Farrah Moans joined us and brought Trinity Place, a homeless shelter for LGBTQ youth to collect the funds we raised - which came to $1000 over the course of the night. Not bad! Thanks to my guests comic Lori Sommer (thanks to comedy manager Tom Ragu for making that happen, Lori will return to Bingo on April 10th) and Lucas Entertainment star Tyler Wolf. Many friends and supporters new and old came out to have some fun with us and make it easier for Trinity Place to help those that have no where else to go.
