Good afternoon peeps, it's been awhile! Hope you're all enjoying your Memorial Day weekend whether you're leathering it up in Chicago at International Mr. Leather (Good luck tonight Arsenio!) or one of a dozen other choice spots around the country (Fire Island, PTown, et al).
Bingo's been great lately and I wish I could say "I'll see you all this Wednesday" but I'll be out of town on a work-thing - but thankfully the ever awesome Candy Samples will guest host for me and will have, as her guest, XXX star Bryan Slater who'll be bringing some Ray Dragon and Titan flicks he's in to give away as prizes. AB will be there shooting the event and Manny will be at the bar slinging drinks.
And our beneficiary? Well, we're raising funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention - an org that's there for people who are on the brink of taking their own life. I realize that's a pretty heavy topic for us to tackle (although it's not the first time the AFSP has been a beneficiary) given that we're just a little fundraising event tucked away on the east side playing dollar card bingo ... but given the rash of porn star suicides over the past year and a half, we're all concerned that maybe people just don't know what resources are out there.
Now I don't pretend to know what was going on in the minds of Arpad and Roman and Wilfried and Daddy Zeus and others, but I do know that transitioning out of a porn career is tough and that getting old and sick is a bitch (given the labyrinthian nature of our health care system) and the thought of losing any of
my friends not to mention a husband would be devastating (in fact, May 31st will mark 20 years since I lost one of my best friends to AIDS... I still feel the affects of that loss).
So, on Wednesday May 29th, I hope that those of you who support the porn industry and love our guys will consider coming to Bingo and having some fun with Bryan and Candy and/or clicking here to support the org do the incredible work that they do.
Speaking of which, some of us here in NYC have been bantering around ideas these past few weeks of how to prevent further deaths. I know that the Lucas Ent guys are talking to Chi Chi and mr Pam this weekend while they're all in Chicago for the Grabbys. We're going to pool ideas and at least attempt to find a solution.
