We kicked off the summer in grand style as Farrah Moans joined us to raise funds for the Arts Project Cherry Grove raising additional funds by raffling off her own homemade and handmade jewelry! See, this is what I love the most about doing this show - when my beneficiaries (and the talent) take the simple idea of raising money through Bingo cards, and take it a step further.
Farrah started off the auction at a
meeting of the Imperial Court earlier that evening and then brought the cash and tickets to us at Bingo where we continued throughout the evening, pulling the tickets at the end of the night. The jewelry helped us pull in tons of extra cash thus ensuring that the night would be a huge success financially!
Plus, we had great entertainment by not one but two incredible performers - singer Joey Ruckus, who we've had the good fortune to con er, pursuade uhm bribe to join us several times over the past year - Joey's always a delight and I look forward to having him in the future (and, you know, read that however you'd like hee hee) ... and our second performer was a newbie to our show, Lewd Alfred Douglas. First, I just love the name (I love puns, I don't care that Samuel Johnson once wrote, that they are the lowest form of wit, I think Samuel Johnson probably had way too many bad experiences given his last name; Alfred Hitchcock and Dick Cavett agree with me so that's enough for me ) and second, Lewd Alfred is cute, dynamic and a very good burlesque performer. Lewd Alfred appears regularly at many Burlesque shows around New York, but specifically at Matt Knife's monthly "Homo Erectus" at Stonewall. Follow Matt on Facebook and get up to the minute info on each month's latest awesome show! :)
You can see pics from the night which include several members of the New York City Gay Men's Chorus who stopped by to celebrate the birthday of one of their own, Jose. You can see a pic of him blowing.. out the candles of his cake. <wink> Thanks to AB for taking these shots!
