This past year at Uncle Charlies shouldn't have happened but it has been really a really cool opportunity to work with Manny again and to welcome some new talent to the P*rno Bingo family - Matt Knife, Robusta Capp, Drew Sumrok, Levi Karter, Liz Fonseca, Lori Sommers, Fein and Dandee, Will Swagger, Lucky Charming (and his Boylesque brothers - Lewd Alfred Douglas, Carriage Return, Go Go Gadget, Suffra Gent, etc), Tym Moss and many more.
As I've mentioned many times before, balancing Bingo and the new job I got last April was a huge challenge. But due to many guest hosts and the help of AB and Manny, we 'made it through all of last year' (as Elaine Stritch might sing).
But they weren't the only ones. Wisconsin AIDS rider Terry Christopher was also an incredible help to me especially in the first few weeks of the job where I thought I was going to lose my mind trying to burn the candle at both ends.
And then there was Rev. Yolanda. I've known Yolanda for nearly ten years and she is one of the dearest people that I know. Sure, she's talented, but that's not why I adore her - no, she's been there for me in thick and thin (and there were some pretty thin times for both of us). She's given me hope at times when I felt that all was lost, she listened to my long rambling stories (and followed them!) and she was instrumental in encouraging me to become an officiant, something that has become one of the brightest joys of my life.
We have shared a lot of things over the years but cogent to Bingo, she's been a constant force for good in my life, popping in at all the right moments. As she closed out our run at Pieces, she will open for Final Bingo and co-call the first round.
If you haven't checked out Yolanda's show at the Duplex - go to her site for ticket info - the next one is Sunday March 16. It's a really great time and everyone will be entertained and also moved by her story and her music.
