Right after making the Final Bingo announcement, there was a part of me that realized that I'd actually have only six more shows. I mean, I know that was the point of the decision and the announcement, but it kind of hit me in a weird way. Before it had almost been just one more thing to plan, but then suddenly it was real. Sure, I'd been emotional (exhaustion will do that), but it hit me: I was now at the end of a project that I'd poured 9 years of my life into.
I was partially relieved (thank God I'm at the end), partially sad (oh God, I'm at the end) and partially anxious (will anyone come for the end?).
The small crowd on January 22, the first Wednesday after the announcement, didn't really do anything to alleviate the anxiety, but a couple old Bingo regulars did resurface that night and that actually made me feel a little better (things are always better when Erica and David show up <G>) and AB and I celebrated his whatever number birthday.
It's an ongoing thing in the ten years that I've known AB that he won't tell me how old he is (although a few there seem to be in on the secret, and over the years I've gleaned some clues) so a few years ago I celebrated his 50th. He's never let me forget it. LOL We had cupcakes and I got him something pretty. :)
My guests that night were Lailah Lancing and horror icon Joe Zaso and they were, as I'd remembered them, all shades of awesome. Joe took off his shirt and Lailah told great stories. All in all, a great time.
Our third guest, Jeannie Sol, was sick and had to cancel which is very sad as I love Jeannie and her amazing voice. I guess I'll just have to go to her next show! :)
Throughout the night we raised funds for AIDS Ride South Africa and Bryan, the executive director, shot the show although most of it will be of the back of my head. (glad I got a haircut just before that night!). You can see the pics by clicking here - and, as always, the photographer is AB.
