Happy Saturday, peeps, and happy Memorial Day weekend.
It's sunny, sort of warm, here in New York. I'm missing my pals at IML in Chicago, particularly the judges from last year that are there this year having a great time without me. I was sort of planning on going and then I thought that it might be like going back to visit your friends at your old high school a year after you graduated. It's not really anything like that in reality but I generally like to go and be doing something rather than just sitting around on aps trying to hook up. That's fine for like a day, but not something I want to do for an entire weekend. I think it's also a matter of 'how can they miss you if you don't go away?" :) However, I'm adamant that next year I'll be in Chicago and hopefully I'll see you all there then.
I'm also rivaling Murphy Brown as continuing the worlds longest reno on a living unit. Brown had a whole house so it makes sense.. I'm just indecisive about what I want (and when I tell decorator friends that I need help they sort of look at me and at my decorating choices with that "oh honey, I can see that" look but don't actually offer any advice) so I'm taking a very long time. What I really could have used was an Eldon this whole time. He worked slowly but man did it look great when he was finally done. There are days, however, when I've been "fuckit, gimme a lawn chair, a bucket of KFC, a cigar, bourbon and an AM radio". Having just read what I wrote, I really do understand why I'm single, btw.
Today I am got a new flat screen TV thus replacing the old 'tube' TV I've had for 12 years. It still works but it's one of those things where you walk into the apartment and the thing sort of screams that an old man lives there. I promise not to embarrass myself by dyeing my grey hair dark (again) or saying 'sup', but let me at least join the 21st century with a flat screen (granted, the tube was bought in 2003 so it's technically a 21st century electronic but honest to God, I was probably the last person in America to buy one. Never let it be said that I jump on a fad).
We're a couple weeks out from both the first of ten P*rno Bingo nights (starting Wednesday, June 3 at Uncle Charlies and running until Wednesday, August 5) as well as the Saturday, June 6 Fire Island Bear Contest. I've added some judges to the contest and have some contestants but I think I'm going to make that a separate blog post because this post is already too long. But we still have room for you if you'd like to be a contestant. It'll be at Cherrys from 8pm to 10pm on Saturday June 6 and I'll announce judges tomorrow (Sunday) and then we'll go from there.
If you're reading this at home, please forward on to a thousand of your closest friends and then go outside and enjoy the day no matter where you are - unless you're reading this from a space station, and then going out probably entails a little bit more than slipping into shorts or a thong and walking out the door. If you're reading this outside, still forward on to a thousand of your closest friends, but then turn the device off and enjoy the real world. :) Or, heaven forbid, you're in Ireland - what are you waiting for - go out and celebrate!!!
More tomorrow once I stop wetting myself over the new TV in my apartment.
