Hello again - I'm out the door in a few minutes to meet a friend for dinner and then hang out with other friends for drinks but wanted to take a minute to remind you (or inform you if you didn't know) about a big event that my friend Witti Repartee is producing/hosting this Saturday night, January 9 at the Metropolitan Room - it's a fundraiser for Iris House and you can read all about the amazing work that they do by clicking here.
Two years ago this was a "Bachelorette" party for Witti who was on her way to get married to the love of her life on February 1 (I was there at both the original event and the wedding, both were spectacular as befit Ms. Repartee) and now, she's turned the event into an annual fundraising event featuring her pals. Tickets are only $25 plus a two drink minimum which is pretty much what you'd spend if you went out and hauled your ass around Manhattan for a couple hours - so this way some of the money goes to helping all sorts of at risk people in our community.
After all, where else will you see drag queens like Steady Mess (who is indeed steady but oh so messy), La Diva, Candy Samples, and singers including Dorothy Bishop? It's a big lineup with over a dozen fab talents gracing the stage throughout the evening. Plus, the show is co-hosted by Ermine Muff - also a mess, but a delightful one. :)
Doors open at 9pm and the show starts at 9:30pm. The Metropolitan Room is located at 34 West 22nd St. in our fair town of New York (doncha hate it when you read a blog and the writer neglects to tell you what city the event is happening in? So while it may seem obvious that this is here in NYC, I'm not taking any chances!)
