Good afternoon, peeps - thanks for taking a minute to check out this blog post - it's kind of important to me.
Over the past 21 years, being Will Clark has been an adventure. An adventure of a lifetime of the sort that I truly never imagined that I'd ever have. It's also been a Joy: to entertain, to converse about issues, to laugh, to drink, to... everything. :)
But, well, if you're still hanging out with me on my Facebook page, or read my occasional posts here, you know that I have already started to go in other directions in my life. True, I closed down the Bad Boys on the Hudson and P*rno Bingo events, partially because I took a corporate events job three years ago but it would have been time to do that anyway as ten Bad Boys Hudson parties and ten years of Bingo is enough for anyone just like I closed down the Bad Boys Pool Parties once I moved to the East Coast. :)
Now, it's true that the job was eliminated at the end of last year and, during this time, I briefly explored the idea of resurrecting Bingo in some form as a way, frankly, to make some money while job hunting. I also thought - do I want to direct porn? Do I want to come up with a sex toy? Do I want to work my butt off and become a new Dr. Zizmor? Sort of more famous for being 'famous' than for the work they actually do?
And, I figured that yes I'm capable of doing any of these... but do I really want to?
And, you know, the answer was: nope. I think there's another chapter for me, but it's time to close down my Will Clark life. Tie it up with a bow and put it up on a shelf.
I've done a lot of really interesting things... I've done the movies, written in magazines, I've had multiple shows in multiple cities, I've raised funds, I've been recognized by my peers, I've written and performed a one man show, and I've performed strip shows all over the country. I emceed various street fests - like Folsom East! and, my very favorite accomplishment was judging IML in 2014. I'd waited 20 years for that and man, was it fucking worth the wait (and then some).
But the real reward was never the money, nor the awards (although I foolishly thought so, once upon a time), or the this or the that.
The real reward was always the cool, amazing people that I have met along the way. So, just so you know, ...thank you all for that.
Anyway, so I've been doing a slow fade out but that's not really my style.. lol ... so I'm declaring today that on August 4th, I'll write my last blog post and sort of wink out of existence and return to my regularly scheduled life already in progress. August 4th will be my 21st anniversary of my first porn shoot so it's a nice bit of symmetry. Will Clark is as old as a whole person who can drink. Given my propensity for Jack and Cokes, Vokda Crans, and Beer... that feels about right. :)
In the meantime, Ill be posting some blogs on topics that I want to write about. I have nothing to 'sell' so it's purely for my own closure. The Facebook page will stay up post August 4 although I think all my other social media will be gone (there's not much out there anymore but there is a Pinterest page with Bingo posters and a Will Clark LinkedIn page. I'm not sure why I ever created that, but lol that'll go away too). As for the blog, it'll stay up until early September and then be archived. I've paid for the domain name for a couple years but there's no need to pay Typepad for a blog that I no longer add to.
I wouldn't be Will Clark if I didn't have an event or two up my ass - so ..... here's a couple times this summer that you can have some fun with me in person. After that, the guy I time share this body with is evicting Will Clark. LOL (my transgender and cross dresser friends understand the "time share' comment, it's meant to be a little bit of a goof, no offense meant)> :)
On July 16th, I'm booked to emcee Witti Repartee's annual birthday party at Rockbar here in NYC - ironically the theme is "Travel' and so, I'll be saying my bon voyage. It'll be my last emceeing gig as Will Clark (out of about 1400 over the years). Come on down, there are charities that could use your help with a small donation at the door and there's booze at the bar and lots and lots and lots of talent performing on stage. As you may also assume, I'll be promoting the fuck out of this over the next few weeks. :) So, really, go ahead and try to escape the gravitational pull of that promotion. :)
On August 4th, I'll sign off and, following that, on Sunday, August 7, if you want, you can join me for a dance party aboard the Sea Tea. One of my favorite DJ's will be spinning - Randy Bettis, and the evening benefits three charities that I like including the heir apparent to the Marriage Equality - NEAT. I'll be going into more depth about that in the coming weeks as well. I should note here - I'm not producing it but I'm just going to go and have fun with my friends and you are of course invited to join us and dance with us - I think there's something tribal in celebrating the end of something with a dance, a drink or ten, and surrounded by good people. I don't know what entertainment will be presented that night but, as with everything else, I'll be keeping you up to date as we go along.
Take care, all and I look forward to talking with you via FB or here or email between now and August 4.
Will Clark
