Good morning all - twas the day before Thanksgiving and you're still hanging out being a cubicle jockey gaining that cubicle weight - well here's a way to start taking it off - get up and dance! There's no one in the office anyway, and the phone hasn't rung at all today (why? because no one is working the day before Thanksgiving).. so pop out to Kwanza Jones' "Supercharged" - the video is filled with big bodacious ta tas and some hot n hungry male dancers. The tune is catchy and there aren't a lot of complicated words to get in the way of your enjoyment of the beat and the visuals.
I don't pretend to know what makes a good boy band beyond that the guys are sexy in a kind of inoffensively wholesome way (and old enough for teenage girls and adult gay men to find them cute in a kind of non-pervy way). Oh sure, some behind the scenes producer tries to make them 'edgy' by giving them "crazy" haircuts or having them wear torn jeans or pajama bottoms as pants, but the sound is usually a little bland, totally catchy and any mother in America would feel OK about having any of the members over for dinner (even if it's de rigueur not to smile and pretend you're all "street" even if you're from a small town in Canada)
Anyway, this new group, Midnight Red, might just be the next big thing - and even if they're not, this latest video of theirs has got a groove and is a good party video. While not as inventive as the Katy Perry Last Friday Night video (well, what could be?), it's one of those 'this feels real' videos, like you can imagine that there really are straight kids getting together and just sort of hanging out like this. Sometimes that's a little better than fake braces and big teeth. In any event, it's a hot Thursday morning already at 85 degrees. Yikes.
I've managed to maintain that it's "morning" for a few more minutes - if you're doing housework, this is a great tune to get you motivated to just finish it and get out and into the world for the day!
Keeping the commentary short because, well, it's the Scissor Sisters after all - they just talk for themselves! :)
Good morning peeps! There's no need to stay in the usual weekend stupor - it's incredibly beautiful out (here in NYC anyway) and you owe it to yourself to get out and make your day "bigger and better" just like Nelly sings in this new music video - Hope you all had a great week, mine was cray cray busy but hey, it's the weekend now so all bets are of! ;)
Enjoy the music and get up and DANCE!
Good morning New York - I spent a terrific weekend out of the city visiting a friend in Delaware - not only did I help my friend buy a new car, help him landscape his back yard and get his PC organized before it's to be replaced by a brand new Mac, but I also got to drive a car for the first time in many years.
It's an easy thing to get out of the habit of driving when you live in New York. Sure, there are Zip Cars if you want to rent cheap, but why would anyone bother when there are thousands of cabs available at pretty much (in the end) the same price (and you don't have to be exposed to the bumper car mentality that New York City drivers seem to have)?
I'm not really a city driver anyway, I love going long distances. The music blaring, the wind whipping through the car, cig in one hand, a soda in the holder, the world at my feet ..... there are few things finer on this Earth than that. If I ever won the lottery, a long cross country driving trip would be one of the first things I'd do.
Anyway, this afternoon I thought I'd share the newest song from Marina and the Diamonds. I don't know this group at all but "Primadonna" is the latest single. It's got an 80s Brit pop feel (and you know how I love my 80s Brit pop - recently a friend from England sent me Phil Harding's "Club Mixes of the 80s" and I was in heaven) with enough grind in it that brings it to 2012.
It's a little repetitive and the video isn't all that, but the tune, the lyrics, the "I couldn't care less, girls just wanna have fun" attitude is fun enough to perk me up on a Monday (although for those of us in New York, it literally couldn't be more perfect weather outside) and it would be exactly the kind of music I'd be listening to as I sped across the boxy states in the West. :)
Enjoy this and have a great start to YOUR week!
Been up for a couple hours, because really although it's a holiday, it's Monday and as I didn't go out last
night (even though there were tons of great things going on) I am working on various projects today (although one of my projects is going to be referred to as "the gym" and another might be "a movie at Chelsea Clearview" later on today).Anyway, I needed a little infuion of energy and Meital's latest "YUMMY" is just the sort of thing I needed this morning so I thought I would post it here - and I know how she feels - I have wanted to do the same thing to a large number of people the past few months who seem intent on acting as douche-baggy as possible. Maybe a right hook might knock some sense back into people. :)
Enjoy this morning's dance break tune!
Because there are few things that I love more than sixties girl pop groups, this Mariah Carey video aping the look of the Supremes on an Ed Sullivan type show is my new favorite thing. Yes I know. You've probably seen it a hundred times since it's been out for five years, but I now just discovered it so I'm sharing it here with you. The white go go boots are reason enough to love this - but of course the song itself is one of the best ever written performed (and if there's someone who doesn't know you love them, consider sending them the link to the video as a way of giving them the message.. because dude, sometimes that's what it takes).
There's a new version of the song, just released starring Justin Bieber.. I know I'm supposed to like everything shiny and new but Bieber bugs me, not because he's not talented but because it's weird to me to hear a teenager from Canada talk like he's from some urban area. He's all 'street', yo, you know? LOL Does no one else find it odd/funny?
Anyway, I know I'm peaking early with the Xmas stuff, but I've already moved past it in my head and will be celebrating New Year's for the rest of the month.
Good morning peeps! I spent last night, Saturday, seeing a show in Williamsburg and then hanging out on my couch watching SNL featuring the great Emma Stone, who I am convinced more and more is having the career that Lindsey Lohan was supposed to have. It's like the universe said "well, Lindsey threw her opportunity away so we need to find another fiesty, talented, adorable redheaded young woman to take her place" It's like the Portrait of Dorian Grey but instead of getting younger, the portrait just goes to rehab and to jail while the person has a great career.
Anyway, and yes, I'll admit it, I didn't go out to a crowded noisy bar to get laid (um like I did Friday night.. hee!).
So Good Morning and let's get things rolling right off the bat - here's Little Boots' latest single, "Shake"... the video isn't ready yet so they did something kinda clever with the visuals.. it's kinda neat and much much better than simply staring at the cover art (like many videos of this type do). So get up out of your chair and get it going .... it's the Morning Dance Break!
Ok so this morning I woke up super horny and since there's no one next to me in the bed (and I love sleeping with another guy) I took to my favorite online hookup site to, you know, hook up. Well, after about 20 minutes of that, I remembered why I don't have an account on this (or any other) site - hook up sites are boring and frustrating and ultimately you literally are sitting around waiting for people to make up their minds that are probably sitting in a suit in their ofice at Time Warner and have no intention of actually hooking up (although there is the semi urban legend of the TW employee that used to bring trix to his office during day hours and fuck them on his desk while his secretary covered for him - I only say 'semi' because although I have no first hand account of that, I know many people who claim to have had the pleasure, and after meeting the guy socially, I can believe it). Yes, welcome to New York. :)
Anyway, I've long let my memberships lapse and good riddance. But for many (me included) one still holds out the hope that something will happen, so rather than delete profiles, they just sort of live on and on and on. It's a little like that song from "Titanic" except that instead of the 'heart", the hard on goes on. At least Celine Dion isn't singing about guys promising to call and/or show up who never do. :)
This morning I'm taking my mind off my rocky pants problem and listening to Porcelain Black's newest single "Naughty Naughty". The video is some behind the scenes footage of the group on the road and is a little incongruous with the partied out vibe of the song, but it'll get you in the mood and your blood pumping (in an entirely different way). (and the song itself is a lot more raunchy than any hook up site!)
You can download this song on iTunes
