If nothing else, seeing my pics from the February 12th night of P*rno Bingo would have gotten me to stop doing the show - I look fucking exhausted. Ugh!
But such is the time of my life that I'm in - and soon, although I know I will be very sad to finish out this part of my life, it will a bit of a relief to put all the Bingo balls away and tie a bow around it. I promise I will get a lot of sleep after February 26th!
Anyway on February 12th, I welcomed CHEER New York to Uncle Charlies - they brought tons of team members out to see singer Robusta Capp (whom, as always, sings live and moved me to tears with her rendition of "The Way of Love") and have the Beardonna experience complete with the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade-like smore's hat on his head.
On top of all that going on, after the second round, I was shocked to see my best friend (who lives in San Francisco) standing there. I hoped I'd see him during the final round of shows but you know, 3000 miles and all (a slight deterrent for those without a private jet). But there he was - amazing! And with presents too!
We laughed, we drank, we made noise and I got the CHEER folks to, one last time, give us a 'prrrrrrno bingo'. Here's the one from last year just before we moved to Uncle Charlies (I have to do a little editing magic on the new one so bear with me).
Good morning peeps - I'm off to the races today - a long day at work managing an event for one of our business lines - the thing will last until 8pm and then I'll be sprinting from a venue near Central Park South down to Uncle Charlies. Usually for such weeks, like last week when Candy Samples guest hosted for me, I'd hire someone to replace me when the work schedule changes and I have something that bumps up against Bingo like this, but it was a kind of last minute change (uhmmm yesterday) and besides, I'm all excited about seeing my pal comic Corinne Fisher, meeting Huling Foster and of course getting to see what new, bizarre, completely inappropriate concoction Beardonna has come up with. Beardonna's costume alone is worth the schlep. So I might be in a suit or something but I'll see you tonight at Prrrrrrrrrrrrno Bingo!
And not for nuthin, tonight's beneficiary is the Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance. As usual, we have cheapo drinks and even cheaper men - and 100% of what we raise through the sale of Bingo cards goes to our charity.
Good morning peeps! Hope you all have been doing well!
Yes, I've kind of dropped off the face of the Earth recently - first it was me taking a kind of social networking holiday - the intense negativity overwhelmed me (I think the day that someone made an unneccessarily cruel joke about Bonnie Franklin's death a few weeks ago was the final straw - seems as though people think they're funnier than they actually are and more bitchy than they really need to be).
About the time I started taking a little social media break, I started getting busy with a new contract events job. It's for the next two/three months and it's great but intense and the company blocks gmail and other social media - so suddenly I'm in a little bit of an uncommunication zone 10 hours a day. Add on to that last weekends all-encompassing "Night of a Thousand Gowns" (it was quite an honor to be knighted, and yes you can call me Sir Will Clark now... and I'm saying that as if no one has ever called me "Sir" before LOL) and the ailing parent of my boyfriend/ex boyfriend/it's complcated/don't ask because I don't know either.
I sort of get up get dressed, go to work, come home make dinner and go to bed. You know. Like normal people.
But, I'm still managing to produce and emcee Bingo every week and grateful for all the help I've been getting around that lately.
Tonight, we're raising funds for Cycle for the Cause - the Centers' AIDS Ride in September from Boston to New York. It's a monthly thing these days and has been "knock on wood" going well so far. Joining me for tonight's extravaganza are comic Lori Sommer (courtesy of Tom Ragu and his awesome stable of comics who dazzle and amuse at comedy clubs around town) and former XXX actor Mike Dreyden who's hosting this weekend's Robin Byrd Show at the Cutting Room - it's a special M4M show featuring, Go Go Harder and MIchael Lucas. That's Saturday night April 13th at midnight. Robin's heading off to Fire Island for the summer so the M4M night will be her last show until after Labor Day (when they presumably will not be wearing white). You can get tix by going to the Spin Cycle site. I've got some Falcon and Raging Stallion flicks to give away, tix to Robin Byrd and as always, ID Lube.
That's from 9pm to 11pm at Uncle Charlies located at 139 E. 45th Street between Lexington and Third on the north side of the street under the bright blue awning. See you then!!
Good morning peeps! From my vantage point, it's just before Christmas and I am sitting at my desk on the UWS but from your vantage point, I've already been gone from the city for 24 hours and hopefully sitting somewhere sipping a vodka cran or some other kind of adult beverage. Hopefully I'm not sitting paniking because I'm already bored. Yikes. I was on a four day cruise ten years ago and after I did a Cocktails with the Stars show the first night at sea, I was instantly seized by a "what to do?" attack. Pray for me that that doesnt happen on the big sea because I'm there for 12 days.. !!
Meanwhile, back here on land, you can enjoy the sounds of my friend Yolanda's newest CD which got released over the holidays (right now for me, but two weeks ago for you!) As you probably know from past entries, Yo has a semi regular show at the Duplex featuring great Country/Gospel music - and while I know it sounds all Bible-thumpy, she's a drag queen who has become a Reverend at the One Spirit ministry here in New York. You are not walking into "you are damned to hell for being gay" territory here!
The new CD, REV YOLANDA'S COUNTRY GOSPEL KIRTAN combines Country Gospel, Native American and Hindu Kirtain music with New Thought ministry lyrics and, well, of course an occasional House Music beat. :) As you can tell, I'm a fan of the music and the man. :)
Yo's next Duplex gig is just a couple weeks away on Sunday January 20th. Check out Yo's website for more info! See the show that's been nominated "Best Musical Comedy 2012" by Broadway World!
Last February, David Drake burned up the stage at the Laurie Beechman here in New York with his newest creation, Tawny Heatherton, a free spirit cabaret singer with a threadbare connection to that other famous Heatherton (Joey). Treading on some of the same ground that others have done before, Drake poises Tawny as not just a 'has been" but more of a "never was". But there's more of a joyful awareness of her lot in life and that makes all the difference, and probably one of the main reasons that Tawny has exploded onto the scene in the past year.
Kiki and Herb of course made huge names for themselves with this concept and Dina Martina followed up turning the joke on it's side, inverting it and running for the hills with it.
While the joke with Kiki was that she was a miserable old drunk and the joke with Dina is that she's completely clueless, Tawny just sort of gently massages the joke and take her audience into a more positive, upbeat space.
At the end of the show you're not really laughing at someone who's just a dismal failure, but laughing with someone who's found a way to find the best side of truly dismal life situations.
And in our cynical world, that makes all the difference and probably one of the main reasons that Cape Cod Magazine named Tawny as one of their People of the Year. (congrats David!)
Whether appearing for a nano second in BEAR CITY 2 or making the rounds at the bars (she'll be dropping by at the January 10th Bingo to wish Mark Schulte a happy birthday and give away some tix to her show), it looks like we're squarely in the Age of Tawny.. and I'm OK with that! :)
Plus, Drake has a rockin bod and even in a dress, looks infinitely fuckable (which definitely helps admirers stay cheery). (Yeah, I know, I stayed classy til the last minute but I just couldn't keep it up.. er so to speak).
Tawny's newest run starts in just a week for three consecutive Saturdays at 7:30 - Jan 12th, Jan 19th and Jan 26th. Last year Tawny's show sold out so fast that producer Chip Duckett added extra nights.
OK so right off the bat, I'm sure that up and coming Cockyboy model Antonio Manero knows how to strip just fine. But being the dad that I am slowly becoming (even if there's a little kicking and screaming while time pulls me there!) I felt it my duty to help show the youth of today how to be the best stripper they can be. And yeah, he made a bunch of money in tips. Good God I could open up a school. Can you imagine the song "Go Go Boy Dropout"?
Anyway, I welcomed first time Bingo guest Honey LaBronx to the show on Thursday November 15th - I first met Honey on a subway some months ago while she and drag sister Frostie Flakes performed guerilla style to a boom box playing "It's Raining Men" late one night. Love at first sight by the way. Not "that" kind of love (!) but an incredible appreciation for the balls it takes to get up in drag in the first place and then climb about the MTA late at night and throw oneself into the unknown, knowing that there can be dangerous people on the ride.. On the other hand, it'd probably take a special kind of stupid for anyone to go up against two tall drag queens who have suddenly sown enough good will for a trainload of people to perk up with smiles (how often on the 1 do you see THAT?).
Our beneficiary of the night was BAAD aka the Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance who brought along tix to their holiday show, LOS NUTCRACKERS (and yes I went again this year and, as always, it was just awesome). BAAD has MANY great shows all throughout the year, check out their site and get on their emailing list.
Hope you are all well in this holiday season - here in New York, the annual weekend of frenzy is in full force. I was doing some shopping today and it's a kind of odd combo - the city has started to empty out
as folks go on their way to their holiday destinations and the ones who are left are doing their last minute panic shopping. Some day (and I say this every year) I'm going to go work somewhere out of the city from Thanksgiving to New Years (or til Valentines Day).
On the other hand, if I'd done that this year I would have missed our big 400th show the other night at the Ritz - which was spectacular to say the least. Candy Samples, Kylie Edmond and Lucas exclusive Vito Gallo all gave great show and we raised quite a bit of money for the Gay/Lesbian Anti Violence Project (thank you Andrea and Carlos for being such great liaisons from one of my favorite orgs!). Thanks too to our fabulous Mrs. Claus who helped us out in A.B.'s absence and of course to our always great DJ Chauncey Dandridge. And wow, so many friendly faces - Evan, Tony, Terry, Roger, Mark, Eugene, Daniel, Brent and Seth and a few dozen other fab folks made it one of the most memorable nights ever.
And yes, I did sing. I think I last sung something solo in public in oh, about 1995 when I took the lead in a musical comedy at Wings Theatre (now closed, but used to be located in the basement of the Archive Building on Christopher Street). Somehwere along the way of doing porn, I developed a kind of fear of singing in public due in part to not wanting to be perceived as one of those porn stars who think they can sing. There are a couple of guys in the industry that actually are great singers (for example, Colton has a great voice and had a singing career before he did porn), but most of those that try to go in that direction are just kind of .. uhm not very good (although I'm probably the only one who loved Jeff
Stryker's "Pop You in the Pooper" from oh, about ten years ago). I don't see this as a big career move for me, but more as a one more thing that I can do and will get more and more confident about the more I do it (like emceeing. the first couple times I did it, I was scared out of my mind.. but soon it became second nature).
I'll have pics up in the next couple days (cross your fingers) but in the meantime, you can enjoy the two pics above - the pic of Kylie and I is by Matt from Skywriting Media and the other is courtesy photographer Monroy. I'm not sure what I'm saying in the pic but I believe I'm making a joke about the title of the movie, THE POWER OF LOVE (Lucas Entertainment) and something about the 80s Huey Lewis song - but after a particularly strong vodka/cran early in the evening, I could be saying just about anything. :) Looking at it now, it's kind of an Archie Bunker face, isn't it? LOL
Since I'm under the weather, going out tonight is probably a bad idea but if you're one of those who is sticking around and who don't have the sniffles (or coughing your lungs out - and ironically I quit smoking on December 1st) then you and your own peeps should go to the Saint at Large's new "Nightmare Before Xmas" event happening tonight Saturday December 22nd at Le Poisson Rouge down on Bleecker Street here in New York. It's being touted as the Halloween event that was stolen by Hurricane Sandy although I'm pretty sure most of us need no real reason to go to a Halloween themed Xmas event! Because to me that sells itself! :)
Performances and dancing all night long by folks like Joey Arias and "a parade of grotesque guests" (no judgement, just quoting the website) I'm crushed I can't make it, because I've been looking forward to it for weeks. But whattamIgoingtodo? Blowing my nose is not exactly a turn on for most guys (although dear Lord, I'm sure there's some fetish group out there that would be into it).
TONIGHT Sunday December 16th, don't miss New York's best holiday show - Rev. Yolanda's Old Time Gospel Hour at the Duplex at 6:30pm! It's a fun filled show with great music, great company and of course lots of drinks prepared by the Duplex staff - when's the last time you used spirituality as your preferred mixer with your Kettle One?
My dear friend Yolanda aka Rev. Roger "Yolanda" Mapes (wow! That's a mouthful!) will be appearing THIS Sunday December 16th at the Duplex for another edition of her/his OLD TIME GOSPEL HOUR. Don't be put off thinking that it's going to be anything but a rousing hour of awesome songs, moving stories and great company.. and it's the perfect way to spend your holiday season especially if you're kind of over fake Christians who will knock you down trying to elbow you from getting that last Honey Boo Boo doll (I don't know if there are such things but it's fun to think so, right?)
For those of you not familiar with the fabulousness that is Yolanda, take a look at this video of her April 2012 apperance on The Will Clark Show (aka P*rno Bingo) singing her signature song, "We Are Angels".
On a related note, as this difficult year draws to a close, this video reminds me of the friendships that I have that have seen me through.. and given that this video was taken during a particularly challenging time.. it's why you might be able to detect me getting emotional.
TONIGHT at 7pm I'll be making my Laurie Beechman stage appearance debut, appearing in my favorite train wreck - Molly "Equality" Dykeman's annual holiday show .. what will I be doing? well, all I can say is that this will be a lot of fun and give me the chance to do something a little .... different. With Molly (and well, with me too) you just never know... :)
Molly brings her
second annual Xmas/variety show, HAPPY MOLLYDAYS, to the Laurie Beechman here in New York.
There will be burlesque acts, some audience participation (and prizes!) and her backup singers, the hot hot hot Mollettes.
In addition to myself, Village Voice columnist Michael Musto will also be on hand as will comic Rick Younger (he appears regularly on the TODAY SHOW with Kathie Lee and Hoda) and burlesque diva Bambi Galore.
YO, you should get your advance tickets now as I'll probably be doing something horribly embarrassing and you want a front row seat to that!! :)
Will Clark has been involved with the erotic entertainment industry for 25 years. He has appeared in 48 XXX films, produced 10 Bad Boys Pool Partys and 10 Bad Boys on the Hudson events, 144 nights of "Cocktails with the Stars", 470 editions of "The Will Clark Show feat. P*rno Bingo" (raising a quarter of a million dollars for NY/NJ non-profits), 40 "P*rn Idol" events, as well as hundreds of other events raising funds for LGBT charities. He still emcees, officiates at weddings and makes appearances at bris's and the openings of shopping malls. He is currently in semi-retirement, waiting/looking for the right project to come along.
